I powered it off and back on and was dropped into busybox initramfs this time, once again I powered the system off and on again and got the ? file folder once again. Needless to say there were many reboots and I had no issues on any restart. So I bare metal installed Kali 2022.4 on my 2017 MacBook air and after trial and error to get the onboard wifi card working I finally got it going.
